Your Role in Our Mission

As the Software Engineer II (Backend), you will be a hands-on individual contributor, building and maintaining scalable backend systems using PHP and Laravel. You will focus on delivering high-quality code, executing assigned tasks independently, making technical decisions within your scope, and collaborating with frontend, QA, and DevOps teams, while occasionally guiding junior engineers to ensure smooth delivery and technical excellence.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Backend Development & Code Quality

• Develop, test, and maintain backend applications using PHP and Laravel

• Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code following best practices

• Design and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services

Jobs, Queues & Asynchronous Processing

• Implement and manage Jobs, Queues, and background processes

• Work with Laravel Horizon for queue monitoring and optimization

• Use Redis for caching, queues, and temporary data storage

• Integrate and consume Kafka or other message brokers for asynchronous communication

Database & Performance Optimization

• Work with MySQL for data modeling, indexing, queries, and performance optimization

• Debug production issues and participate in root-cause analysis

Task Ownership & Technical Decision-Making

• Break down assigned tasks and complete them independently

• Make technical decisions within assigned modules or features

• Ensure high-quality delivery with minimal supervision

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Review junior engineers’ code and provide technical guidance when required

• Collaborate with frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions

What You Bring

• 3–5 years of professional experience in backend development or equivalent skill level

• Strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel

• Good working knowledge of JavaScript for frontend interaction and API integration

• Solid understanding of OOP, MVC, APIs, and SOLID principles

• Experience with MySQL indexing, queries, and transactions

• Hands-on experience with Redis

• Familiarity with Kafka or other message broker concepts

• Experience working with queues, jobs, and background workers

• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks effectively

Your X-Factor

• Consistent delivery of assigned tasks within timelines and with minimal supervision

• Ability to build stable and optimized job and queue implementations

• Track record of reducing bugs and production issues

• Willingness and ability to support and guide junior engineers
