Your Role in Our Mission
As our founding Senior Design Systems Designer, you'll architect and build the design system that powers our entire product ecosystem. This is a rare opportunity to establish the foundation of design at scale, defining standards, creating components, building documentation, and championing adoption across product teams.
You'll work at the intersection of design and engineering, balancing craft with pragmatism, and creating systems that empower designers to move faster without sacrificing quality. This isn't a maintenance role, it's a design engineering role. You'll shape the practice from day one, working independently across overlapping time zones with design, product, and engineering teams to scale our design operations.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Design System Strategy & Foundation
Build and evolve the design system from the ground up (components, patterns, tokens, guidelines, documentation)
Establish scalable foundations across web and mobile
Define design tokens, accessibility standards, and responsive patterns for global products
Brownfield Optimization & System Audit
Audit existing products to identify inconsistencies
Establish baseline components and unified standards
Create a phased roadmap for systematic improvement
Engineering Partnership & Implementation Excellence
Partner closely with engineers to ensure design-to-code fidelity
Establish structured handoff processes
Build reusable, production-ready component libraries
Documentation, Enablement & Adoption
Create comprehensive documentation for designers and developers
Develop enablement materials to support system usability
Conduct workshops, office hours, and 1:1 sessions to drive adoption
Evangelize system usage and gather continuous feedback
Governance & Operational Framework
Define contribution guidelines and review workflows
Establish governance models balancing quality control and autonomy
Maintain system integrity while enabling team velocity
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
Collaborate with product designers, engineers, and stakeholders globally
Travel occasionally for co-working sessions, offsites, research, and planning
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
Measure system impact through adoption metrics
Track efficiency gains and consistency improvements
Iterate based on data and team feedback
What You Bring
5-8+ years of product design experience focused on design systems, component libraries, or design operations
A portfolio showcasing design systems work; component libraries you've built, documentation you've created, and measurable adoption/impact
Competent Figma skills including components, variants, auto-layout, variables, and design tokens; you're the person teams come to for advanced Figma questions
Deep understanding of design fundamentals: typography, color theory, spacing systems, responsive design, and accessibility (WCAG 2.1, 2.2)
Experience working with both greenfield (building from scratch) and brownfield (systematizing existing products) scenarios
Strong collaboration and communication skills; you can advocate for system thinking while being pragmatic about trade-offs
Self-starter mentality with a track record of building practices from 0 to 1 without heavy oversight
Bonus: Front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, React) or strong technical fluency to partner deeply with engineers
Bonus: Experience in fintech, trading platforms, SaaS, or complex data-rich products
Bonus: Experience with enabler tools like Tailwind, Storybook, Zeroheight
Your Journey After Applying

60-minute Session with the Direct Supervisor
60-minute Session with Chief Strategy Officer
